Gordon’s realization that families with special-needs members have great demands on both their financial and emotional resources led to his commitment to admit anyone with a special need free of charge.
In August 2018, Morgan's Inspiration Island was named one of "The World's Greatest Places" by Time magazine. In 2010, Morgan’s Wonderland opened with NBA legend David Robinson and actress Eva Longoria as guests. Gordon Hartman no longer builds homes, he sold his company in 2005 to McMillin Homes.
Gordon and his wife, Maggie, encountered many of these obstacles first hand in raising their daughter who was born with physical and cognitive challenges. Morgan was the primary motivation that inspired them to establish the Gordon Hartman Family Foundation in September of 2005 after the sale of Gordon’s successful homebuilding business. Ultra-Accessible™refers to removing both physical and economic barriers that confront children and adults with special needs. This means that those with and without special needs can come together in a fully-inclusive environment for fun and a better understanding of one another. The World Waterpark Association honored Morgan’s Inspiration Island with its 2017 Leading Edge Award, and in 2018, TIME magazine named the splash park to its first annual list of World’s Greatest Places.
